End of School Year Letter

Two Children Hold Up Happy Summer Sign

Published: 06/04/2021

Dear Honey Tree Families,

The end of the school year is an emotional time at Honey Tree.  It is rewarding to observe student’s successes, after having made so much progress throughout the school year, but it is difficult to realize we will no longer be seeing some of our beloved students and families who are not returning next year.  We get used to seeing the students' sweet faces every day and we will miss you all tremendously!

On behalf of the teachers, Michele Chesson and myself, we want to thank our Honey Tree families for entrusting your children to us this school year, after many families withdrew before the beginning of the year, due to concerns related to the Covid pandemic.  We understand and sympathize with people's worries, and we realize that the most important thing is keeping your children safe!  We feel blessed beyond measure to have been open this school year, with some sense of normalcy for the students.  It brought the teachers and staff a lot of joy to see the children happily playing together every day.

We have appreciated your patience and cooperation throughout the school year as we learned to navigate the many Covid protocols we were required to implement, including: mask-wearing, temperature checks, additional hand washing, physical distancing, and designated arrival/dismissal areas.  The teachers put a lot of effort into following cleaning and sanitizing procedures that helped to make us all feel safe.  It has not been easy, but it has been worth it to be able to teach the students in person.

It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge Calla Chevalier, “Director Emeritus”, for her assistance and guidance this school year. As we were faced with many Covid challenges, as well as a sudden change in administration, Calla’s wisdom, experience and devotion to Honey Tree has been invaluable during our time of need. We are also grateful to the Honey Tree Board for their continued support, dedication and service to the school.

We wish you all a wonderful summer. Enjoy time with loved ones, and fun excursions with your kiddos!  We look forward to seeing returning families in September.  It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to the many families who are moving on.  You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Good luck in your future endeavors. Please come back to Honey Tree and visit us!

Sincerely,
Julie Riedel
Director
