Curriculum

The early childhood years are important ones for developing a joy of learning. At Honey Tree Preschool we provide a variety of materials and developmentally appropriate activities for the development of the whole child. Children learn best through unhurried, hands-on exploration and experiences in a safe and caring environment.  Within correlated curriculum themes that includes both indoor and outdoor play as well as circle time we encourage children to explore and experience:

Purpose

Our major purpose at Honey Tree Preschool is to help each child value him or herself as a unique individual created by God, while developing a joyful curiosity about the world. Our program is designed to provide experiences that involve the total child: intellectually, physically ,emotionally, and within the framework of a Christian setting. Honey Tree Preschool fills a child's need for:

  • Friends his/her own age.
  • Safe and secure separation from home
  • Enriched and challenging envionment.
  • Hands-on learning activities
  • Space, time, and freedom to develop his/her whole self.
  • Growing Independence and self-esteem

Daily Schedules

 

Our Honey Tree Preschool Day

 Welcome to our class!  We are looking forward to our year ahead with your preschooler.  Here is an example of our daily schedule:  it will give you a picture of your child’s day at Honey Tree. 

8:45 – 9:00                 Opening Circle

Purpose:                      Community, whole group experience

 

Activities:                  Welcome, Hello songs, Introducing Leader/Helper & activities or theme for the day

 

9:00 - 10:00                Indoors - Play Time

Purpose:                      Self selecting activity, learning/play centers, independence and

                              decision making

 

Activities:                  Art, Blocks, Computer, Dramatic Play, Science, Puzzles,

 Table Toys & Games, Cooking or Snack Preparation

 

 

10:00 - 10:30             Indoors - Circle Time  & Snack

Purpose:                      Large and small group experience and process, developing

                               social/emotional, language/communication and thinking skills

                       

Activities:                  Stories, Fingerplays, Music, Movement, Science, Math, and

                             Literacy Games or Activities, Handwashing, Snack

           

 

10:30 - 11:30              Outdoors - Play Yard Time

Purpose:                      Self selecting activity, independence, decision making and 

                               developing large motor skills

 

Activities:                  Sand & Water Play, Swings, Slides, Bikes, Balls, Climbing and

                                    Grass Activities

 

11:30 - 11:45               Indoors - Closing Circle

Purpose:                    Community, Whole group experience

 Activities:                  Naming favorite activities, Songs, Good-byes

Our Honey Tree Parent/ 2 Year Old Day

Welcome to our class!  We are looking forward to our year ahead with you in our parent participating 2 year old class.  Here is an example of our daily schedule:  it will give you a picture of your day at Honey Tree.

 

9:15 – 9:30            Opening Circle

Purpose:                 Community, Whole group experience, Developing social/emotional, language/communication and thinking skills

 

Activities:             Welcome, Hello Songs, Story, Introducing activities or theme for the day

 

 

9:30 – 10:00          Outdoors – Play Yard Time

Purpose:                 Child initiated activity, Parent interaction with child, Developing large motor, social & emotional skills.

 

Activities:             Sand & Water Play, Swings, Slides, Trikes, Balls, Climbing and Grass Activities

 

 

10:10 – 11:00          Indoors – Play Time

Purpose:                Child initiated activity, Parent interaction with child, learning/play centers, Developing fine motor, language, thinking, social and emotional skills

 

Activities:             Art, Blocks, Pretend Play, Puzzles, Manipulatives, Easel Painting, Sensory Activities, and Snack

 

 

11:00 – 11:15          Indoors – Closing Circle

Purpose:                 Community, Whole group experience, Developing social/emotional, language/communication and thinking skills

 

Activities:               Story, Fingerplays, Music, Movement, And Good Byes
